Four year old Lollo’s favorite ‘burger joint’ is actually the new sandwich shop in Snider Plaza called East Hampton Sandwich Co. I’ve tasted it and the burger patty itself is not unlike many other burger places but we finally figured that it’s the bread that makes Lollo yearn for more. Lines have been snaking out the door at lunch time so if you’ve got little ones in tow, be smart and head there early for lunch or avoid lunch altogether and go in for an early dinner.
Sandwiches may sound odd for dinner but East Hampton sandwiches are really gourmet meals squeezed in between two slices of bread. Think hot cheese with short ribs and caramelized onions or Southern fried chicken with cured bacon, avocado mash and arugula. We are also addicted to their version of the Cuban with a brown sugar ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese and a spicy pickle.
On days we want to splurge on a $16 sandwich, the Lobster roll is a must. Packed full of meaty pieces of lobster with a subtle drizzle of butter. It is what I call the OMG Lobster Roll!
Aside from sandwiches, there’s also soups, appetizers and fresh salads. Our favorite is the golden pear and pancetta salad with mixed greens and blue cheese tossed with a Champagne vinaigrette. And the East Coast beach and breezy decor done by Plan B makes us want to don our pastels and resort wear no matter what the weather is outside.
And to end your meal, try the donut in a bag for just $3! If only, we had a beach to frolic in…
