Believe it or not, our new favorite healthy eating spot is at the mall. Green House Market at Northpark Center with it’s chef driven, farm-to-table menu is a game changer to mall food. The little spot tucked behind AMC theaters (directly above Breadwinners) is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features handmade pastries, pressed juices, locally sourced ingredients, desserts, Blue Bottle coffee, organic wines and craft beer.
If the concept looks a little familiar, it may be because Green House was one of the first food trucks in Dallas touting their fresh fare all over town. But we prefer their brick and mortar location so that we can lunch after a visit to Bookmarks library. The kind peeps at Green House Market not only provides patrons with clean, healthy food but also supports readers by offering 10% off the food bills of Dallas Public library card holders.
The menu features changing soups, market salads, stir fries, sandwiches featuring breads from Village Baking Co. and substantial entree plates. The IttyBittyFoodies love their brown rice stir fry with edamame, carrot, onion and a choice of protein. We tend to alternate from their Local Yocal steak, seabass or portabello. The meal usually has a hint of sriracha so if your kids don’t like it spicy, just ask them to hold the heat. The dish is flavored with tamari and sesame oil making this a great gluten-free option.
Beefcake likes variety and opts for the Market Salad trio. For just $10 he can pick three from about dozen different salads. Some of our favorites have been the wilted kale with white bean and sweet potato; cold soba noodles tossed with seaweed and an agave-soy vinaigrette; the colorful roasted beets with walnut and goat’s cheese. My good friend, V who I introduced the Green House Market to a few months ago is absolutely addicted to the hummus, so much so that when she fell very ill, their hummus is all that she can stomach.
For me, I love their entree plates especially the striped bass with a choice of two market salad sides. The staff is amazingly friendly and there’s an abundance of high chairs for little ones. There’s also seating just outside the restaurant but inside the mall and also seating on their outdoor balcony for little wandering diners.
There’s also a small take out area and little market place selling the Blue Bottle Coffee beans that they serve, jams and other delectable goodies.

Till our next Happy Meal!
