As if we didn’t love Good Local Markets like crazy, starting this Sunday September 27th, Good Local Markets are partnering with Farm to Market Workshop to offer activities for children ages 3-8 at the markets. The workshops are free and parents must remain onsite during the time. Through a holistic, project-based program, workshops run by instructor, Jennifer Stuart will engage young minds through the exploration of food, farming, nature and life skills. This sounds like heaven for our Itty Bitty Foodies who love to cook, learn about nature and garden though using a water gun was probably not what they had in mind (but it was heaps of fun). Here are the details of upcoming workshops.
Sunday, October 18 10:30am – 12:30pm at Half Price Books
Saturday, October 31 9am – 11am at The Green Spot Market and Fuels
“What About Worms?” Children observe composting worms and harvest some worm castings to take home with the help of Texas Worm Ranch. Students will creat their own pet worms from clay.
Saturday, November 14 9am – 11am at The Green Spot Market and Fuels
Sunday, November 22 1030am – 12:30pm at Half Price Books
“Birds and Bees,” hosted with the assistance of Urban Chicken Ranch and Texas Honeybee Guild allows children to observe bees and interact with live chickens. Students will use a variety of art materials to create their own bees and chickens to take home.
