Boots and Bling

Denim| the only dress you’ll need this Spring

Last month I had a country and western event to attend and this Aussie mama found herself nothing to wear. Despite living in Texas for so long, I’ve never done the boots and bling thing. So off I went shopping and inadvertently stumbled upon what could be the only spring dress you’ll need: the denim number. It’s so versatile, I can do simple changes and the one dress takes me from morning to evening. Ironically, I didn’t end up wearing the denim dress for my Boots & Bling event but I’m wearing it everywhere else.

When I want to get active, I slip on a pair of leggings under my dress. 2 year old Googie and I go to Little Gym each week and this lets me exercise with him without any embarrassing flashing in class.

If I’m lunching with the ladies, I throw on a simple scarf and Sam Edelman shoes. I’ve quite a few pairs of Sam Edelman shoes. They’re fashionable but also comfortable enough for me to (literally) run after 3 boys. This look ties me from lunch till pick up time for the boys from school.

For date night, a pair of fun Kendra Scott and high heeled booties works great.

Here are some of my favorite denim dresses out there. Pick one that fits your personality!

As for the boots and bling event, I ended up went Boho chic with a black eyelet dress and instead, invested in the Justin Boots Women’s Classic Western Boot. At close to $200, they are pretty pricey so I picked a brand that I trust. The leather feels thick and durable with pretty, simple stitching and a medium Western heel. I love my Turquoise Damiana pair. It’s actually more teal than turquoise and every time I wear it, someone stops me to ask where I got them from. Definitely a statement piece that I can tuck jeans in or wear under a dress. A comment about the Justin Boots Women’s Classic Western Boot, they run half a size big so take note when ordering.

  1. You’re totally right, this would be a super versatile spring piece! Then for fall, some jewel toned leggings and a scarf and/or cardigan and BAM! Done!

I’m soooo obsessed with that Gap dress! <3

  2. I have a denim dress that I am obsessed with (planning on wearing it to work tomorrow). I love all of the options that you get with it by dressing it up and down!
